The SEO Tab

Whilst editing a page on your website, you will be presented with a selection of tabs. Let’s take at the SEO tab, which stands for ‘Search Engine Optimisation’.

NB: If you wish to optimise your site for the search engines, you will need to know what keywords/phrases you want to target. You can read our SEO Basics article for more information.

When you click on the SEO tab, it will open a view that looks like this:

SEO Title
This is your ‘page title’ and gives the search ‘crawlers’ the information they need to understand what products or services you’re offering, or your business name and related information. When we set up your website, this will be populated automatically.

H1 Tag
The H1 Tag is the main heading of your webpage – this field will automatically populate to include the same information as your page title/SEO title. However, if you wish to refine or adjust your main heading, you can do so by editing this field.

Meta Description
This is the 2 line description that shows up in the Search Engine Results Pages. You should try to include your main keywords in this description and keep the character count below 155 characters. Learn more by reading our SEO Basics article.

Hide from XML sitemap
If you tick this box (by clicking on it), this page will not show in your sitemap and will not be indexed by the search engines. More information about XML sitemaps here.

Manually set change frequency
By default, dotAdmin will attempt to automatically set the change frequency of listings in the XML sitemap according to how often the document is changed. You can override that automatic setting here.
