Editing Content In The WYSIWYG Editor

When you’re editing content within your website, you’ll be taken to a content editor, which looks like this:

The editor offers many different functions to help you format your content. Let's take a look at what each icon does, working from top left to bottom right:

Cut Text
This allows you to cut out a section of text out of your content. Highlight the text you wish to remove and click the icon.
Copy Text
Click this icon to copy a highlighted section of text, so that you can repeat it elsewhere on your site or save it in an offline document.
Paste Text
When you've copied or cut some text, you can click on a specific area of the text box and then click this icon to paste the text where you want it.
Paste from Plaintext
If you’ve originally written your content in a Plain Text Editor, click this icon. This box will appear:

Follow the instruction as displayed.
Paste from MS Word
If you’ve originally written your content in MS Word, click this icon. This box will appear:

Follow the instruction as displayed.
Undo
This will undo the last action you carried out in the text box, the action prior to that if you click again, and so on.
Redo
When you've used the undo icon, you can use this to redo the last undo adn restore the changes.
Spelling
Clicking on this item will reveal the following drop-down menu:

Enable SCAYT - This will check your spelling as you type, highlighting errors for you to correct as you work.

Check Spelling - This will open up the spell checker:
It works in the same way as your word processor’s spell check function, giving you the option to keep or edit any words as it highlights them through the text.
Add Link
This allows you to insert a link. You can find more information about adding links here.
Remove Link
If you want remove a link from your text, highlight the link and click this icon.
Add Anchor Point
This function allows you to set an ‘anchor’ point in the text – you can then link to that section from elsewhere in the page.
Insert Image
To add an image, click your cursor within the text field, at the point you wish to place your image, and click this icon. You can learn more about adding an image here.
Insert Table
To add a table, click your cursor within the text field, at the point you wish to place your table, and click this icon. You will now see a box:

Use the fields to create the appropriate size table and layout.
Horizontal Rule
Click this icon to insert a line between paragraphs if you wish to separate 2 sections of text.
Insert Special Chars
This button allows you to choose a special character from the box as shown below:
Fullscreen Mode
If you prefer to work on a larger format, this button will expand the page to fill your computer screen. Click it again to take you back to the original size.
View Source
Click this icon to reveal the HTML mark up within the text field. You shouldn't need to worry about this unless you're an advanced user.
Bold
Formats the highlighted text into bold.
Italic
Formats the highlighted text into italics.
Strikethrough
Places a strikethrough line in the highlighted text.
Remove Formatting
Removes any formatting from highlighted text.
Ordered List
Allows you to insert or remove a numbered list.
Unordered List
Allows you to insert or remove a bulleted list.
Increase / Decrease Indent Level
Decrease indent/increase indent – this allows you to indent text in your list to the next list level, or decrease it to the previous level.
Blockquote
Allows you to format a selected piece of text as a block quote, which looks like this:
Styles Menu
Clicking on this icon reveals a drop down, scrolling menu:
You can use this to format a highlighted section of text according to the style you select.
Format
Clicking on this icon reveals a drop down, scrolling menu:

You can use this to format a highlighted piece of text into a H2 Tag (heading 2) or any of the other available options. NB your website already has its H1 Tag set, so do not use this option in your content field. By default, all text will be formatted as ‘normal’.
Help
This icon reveals a box from which you can access the text editor's original website if you wish to find out more about the company and its development.

IMPORTANT NOTE: When you’ve made changes to your website content, DO NOT FORGET to click on the Publish or Publish & Exit buttons to save your changes!
