dotAdmin V1.1 Released

dotAdmin version 1.1 has been formally released and installed on the webserver today. Over the course of the forthcoming weeks, all dotAdmin client websites will be upgraded to the new version of the software.

The new release contains many major improvements:

Improved Admin Permissions Heirarchy

User will now have greater control over the access rights of individual site administrators, allowing access to templates, navs and add-on features such as the mailing list manager to be more tightly controlled.

Improved Admin Interfaces

A new resource listing class allows items to be listed more consistently in the main listing views throughout the site. Site admininistrators now have search and sort features in the majority of listing pages.

Improved User System

An all-new modular user system allows for more flexible storage of site user data, and for more complete control over this data in the admin system. Affiliate account data has also been added to the user admin system.

All-New LInk and Image Placement Interfaces

The link and image placement interfaces for the WYSIWYG editor and elsewhere have been given a complete overhaul in order to improve useability, and allow for new resource types. Adminstrators can now search and sort items in either interface.

Mailing LIst System: New HTML Mail Creation Features

In addtion to the standard plain text mail creation interface, site administrators can now create HTML mails, and even mail pages from the site using the Mailing LIst system. All emails are now templated

Mailing LIst System: Filtering Options

Mails can now be sent to filtered groups of users based on zone privileges, clearance level and affiliate program membership.

New "Protected Download" Filetype

Password protected files can now be uploaded, and privileges are created and tracked automatically based on links to these download withing the website.

Changes to Template Syntax

To enable more sophistaicated linking of resources, we have made a number of changes to template syntax. Templates for existsing sites will be automatically updated during the upgrade.

Changes to Custom Variable Storage

To enable more sophistaicated linking of resources, we have made a number of changes to C_Var data storage. C_Var data for existsing sites will be automatically updated during the upgrade.

Improved Link Tracking

Tracking of internal links across dotAdmin websites has been enhanced to take account of new resource types and new C_Var data.

New Affiliate Program Added

A fully featured affiliate program has now been added to dotAdmin, with account creation, public reporting, and administrator reporting all features of the system.

Sale of Downloads and Subscriptions

dotAdmin sale units can now be configured as downloads or subscriptions, allowing sale of non-tangible items via your online store. This upgrade includes intergation into the checkout, so that downloads and access privileges are configured after a completed payemnt. dotAdmin users wishing to activate these features should speak to dotAdmin technical support.
